I was fortunate to grow up in the U.P. My Father and his hunting partners owned a camp on the Peshekee river near the McCormick track. We raised horses on our 40 acre farm south of Trenary so I mostly grew up in the outdoors. I took the beauty of the U.P. for granted.

Then I moved west to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where I became a professional river guide on the Snake river. I guided both scenic and whitewater raft trips and learned to climb. I climbed most of the high peaks in the Teton Range. Fourteen seasons of guiding on the river and climbing and hiking in the Tetons solidified my love of nature and the outdoors.

Then I returned to the U.P. and viewed the land I grew up on with fresh eyes, and I came to realize what a truly beautiful place this is. I had lived in one of the most spectacular places on earth, and had guided people from all over the world down the Snake River on a raft. My customers included celebrities and one sitting President.

But now I saw that the U.P. had things that the west did not. The west has spectacular mountain beauty not found here, but the U.P. has water like no water on earth, especially Lake Superior. I had grown up near Superior, but now I saw how awesome it really is.

I balked at selling real estate at first. I had grown up in a family retail store, had been a manager and buyer for an outdoor retailer, sold outdoor clothing and equipment, and had been a sales rep for an outdoor company, so I knew sales. But I doubted that real estate was my forte.

It was only when I saw the beautiful, private, and unique types of land that Huey Real estate sells that I decided to give this business a try, and it has been a good fit. I can sell this land because I know it and love it so much. So I got my license and sure enough, thirteen years later, I still love it.
